Prayer Bag - Thank you to D for his beautiful Prayer Bag liturgy helping us think about creation and all that God had given us. We recited the 'Glory be' together and read D's own prayer asking God to look after us all.

Prayer Bag Liturgy - Thank you to G for her beautiful Liturgy on 'Christ the King'. We loved your crown for Jesus with its beautiful sparkles. We will try to live out your 'Going Forth' challenge and treat everyone with respect no matter who they are.

Marian Procession - Today Acorns participated in their own procession in honour of Mary our mother as a conclusion to their learning about Our Lady of Lourdes this week. We carried out rosary beads and recited the Hail Mary, we sang the Lourdes hymn 'Immaculate Mary' raising our beads and flowers as we sang the chorus 'Ave Maria' (meaning Hail Mary) just as they do in Lourdes. Mary asked St. Bernadette for people to process and we were proud to do what Our Lady asked of us with reverence and prayerfulness.

Reception joined Mrs David and their school family for assembly. We heard about the importance of armistice day.

Reception shared the Gospel reading from Sundays Mass. Each week we reflect on the Gospel and explore how we can live as followers of Jesus. Today we thought about how we can be more charitable by giving what we can to help others. We know that giving is not only monetary. We can give love, hop, joy, peace and patience to others.

Reception class have been learning about Baptism. We know that at our Baptism, we are welcomed into God’s family. We role played a Baptism and some children talked about Baptisms they have attended. Can you talk about Baptism at home? Do you have a Baptismal certificate or candle?

Reception class joined the Mass live stream and joined in with prayers and responses. We enjoyed listening the readings from the letter of Saint James and joining in with hymns. We sang ‘Praise Him’ and practised the actions. After half term we will join our school family at Mass.

On a Friday we shared our Assembly to reflect on October as a special month to pray theRosary.

In class we shared St. Marks Gospel from Sunday’s Mass. we reflected upon James and John asking to be seated next to Jesus. We often ask to be star of the day. We know we are chosen based upon our words and actions. Have we shown love and kindness to our friends? Have we helped to look after our classroom? Have we done our very best? We are called to greatness and we can grow closer to God through our good deeds.

Today we shared the Gospel from Mass on Sunday. We reflected upon how we can serve others in our work and play. We pledged to be helpers of Jesus by taking care of all the children in our class and being a social friend to everyone.

Yr. Reception Prayer Bag. Today we explored our class Prayer Bag, we found artefacts, books and prayers that will help us talk to God. During the year, each class member will be given the opportunity to take the bag home to pray together with their family. We would love to see some photos, drawings and prayers of your prayer time at home, so that we can share them in class.

In our assembly we shared our half termly virtues which are curious and active. We talked about how we can be curious about the world. We talked about the things we are curious about and many of us are curious about God and Jesus. We know that we can learn more about God through prayer and by listening to the teachings of Jesus in the Bible.

Can you learn our class prayers and say them to a grown up?

Reception are learning to pray important prayers of their faith. We will pray The Hail Mary and Our Father many times during co worship. Can you become more familiar with these prayers and pray them each day. What do you think about when you ask Mary to pray with you? What can we learn about God from The Our Father?

Reception class have had a wonderful first week as part of the OLOL family. We have explored our environment and begun to develop friendships that will hopefully last a life time. We live, learn and love together

We have begun our faith journey this week by talking about Jesus, God and Mary. We have explored key artefacts and begun to learn key prayers. We sat and listened to the story of creation and talked about all the wonderful gifts God has given us.
