Our House Saints
We listen to the views of our children when we are making changes to important aspects of school life. When we decided to introduce house teams, we asked all of the children at OLOL to think about which Saints we should focus on and why. We had many suggestions – children chose Confirmation Saints, Saints that shared their first names, Saints that inspired them (teacher’s didn’t get to choose!). We narrowed the huge list down to the 7 most popular and every child in school is assigned to one of these houses when they join our school.
Each class has a dedicated Class Saint as part of their work on developing an understanding of vocation and the historically significant figures in the Catholic Church. In the same way that our House Teams span the range of the Churches chronology, so too do our Class Saint selections. Each year we review the People of God chosen and make occasional changes so that gender, location and nationality are all considered and children can see the vastness of our faith historically and geographically.
