Why do the Staff go on Pilgrimage?
Every two years (in between child/staff pilgrimages to Lourdes), the staff and Governors plan a pilgrimage opportunity to support their spiritual development and refresh us in the work we are doing with our young people. This time of retreat, prayer, reflection and learning is vital for the staff that help to nurture children and other adults in the faith.
Without the distraction of day to day life we have an opportunity to become renewed and invigorated as we follow in the footsteps of the pilgrims and Saints that travelled before us. We hope to be forever changed by the experiences we have on Pilgrimage and bring back a richer understanding of our faith to share with the children.
How does this work at OLOL?
The staff volunteer to go on pilgrimage and use one day of teacher training to facilitate this. The costs are completely paid by the staff that attend the visit and no public funds are used to pay for any element of the visit. The pilgrimage usually lasts for 4 days over a Bank Holiday. Locations are selected based on the wishes of staff and impact we hope to gain from visiting that centre of pilgrimage.
