Welcome

Our Mission at OLOL

Christ is the centre of our school community

where we live, love and learn together

My name is Mrs David and on behalf of the children, staff and Governors, I would like to welcome you to the website of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary School in Yardley Wood. We are a school where children and staff live their faith proudly and visibly, a school where prayer and a love of learning are at the heart of what we do, a school that is aspiring to be the very best Catholic School we can be!

“A good school provides a rounded education for the whole person. And a good Catholic school, over and above this, should help all its students to become saints.”

Pope Benedict XVI

We know that the decision you make about which school to send your child to, is one of the most important ones you will ever make. It is our hope that by seeing the environment we can provide for your child’s well-being and safety, their spiritual formation and their academic achievement you will consider OLOL Catholic Community to be the right place for your child to start their journey to become the person that God wishes them to be.

Our school is rooted in our very active faith life, the high standards of behaviour and learning we expect, an approach to education that demonstrates inclusivity and quality pastoral support, a place where we hope all children and staff are happy to be. We are a school where your child will be stretched in all aspects of their development, where we celebrate the uniqueness of each individual and nurture the talents given to us so that we are always working towards our potential. These aspirations apply to our hard working staff team also.

We provide many opportunities through the broad OLOL curriculum and beyond to enrich the education and spiritual life of all OLOL children – we achieve this through visits, visitors and a range of exciting activities. Our Catholic life can be seen in all aspects of the curriculum and our children perform very well over time when compared with local and national benchmarks.

At OLOL, we are extremely proud of the rich and varied liturgical experiences we offer our children, staff and families and our very close links with our Parish give our school community opportunities to live the Jesuit virtues in their work, worship and play. As we prepare our children with the skills they will take out into the world, we know they also have an understanding in their hearts of the abstract things that ensure they know how to be a good person too.

Over the years your child is with us we look forward to working closely with the whole family and the Parish sharing the responsibility for providing a quality education in a strong spiritual setting. We provide parents with lots of information about their child’s education through this website and our X learning journey!

We hope that your child will leave our community ready for the next stage of their learning at Secondary school but rooted in love, compassion, wisdom, courage, dignity, service for others and justice for all - model citizens and good people!

OLOL has a committed and hardworking staff team who provide excellent teaching and learning opportunities for the children in our school.

It is a daily joy and privilege to have been given the opportunity to serve the community of OLOL as the Head Teacher. I hope that your digital journey through these pages leaves you with a small impression of what makes OLOL a successful and truly special Catholic primary school.

If you have any questions about our school or the provision we can offer please telephone or email enquiries@ourlady.bham.sch.uk and someone will be able to help you. Parents seeking admission for their child to OLOL should read information on the relevant pages of this website https://www.ourladyoflourdesprimary.com/admissions/ or contact our Admissions Officer on 01214442684.
