We want all OLOL children to have equal opportunities to benefit from school activities and visits (curricular and extra-curricular) no matter what their parents income or situation is. This charging and remissions policy describes how we will do our best to ensure a good range of visits and activities is offered and, at the same time, try to minimise the financial burden on families, which may prevent some children taking full advantage of the opportunities.
The 1996 Education Act requires all schools to have a policy on charging and remissions for school activities, which will be kept under regular review.
At OLOL, we differentiate between what is required of the curriculum and what is optional (so parents can choose whether their child takes part). Parental donations are often necessary to allow us to support the enrichment of the OLOL curriculum and the children’s lived experiences.
The school will always look for best value, discounts and subsidies so that you are asked for the minimum amount necessary to support the visit. We reserve the right to cancel visits where requested donations are not enough to make the visit financially viable.
