Congratulations to both children for demonstrating our virtues for this half term ‘Compassionate and Loving’.

Well done to our group of children this week who prepared and planned their pupil prepared prayer for us this week. Their theme was compassionate and loving, it was a beautiful time for us to reflect and pray together.

We are collecting harvest donations for Sifa Firesideas as part of our practical Catholic Social Teaching efforts.

Today we wrote a petition for all of those people in our lives who are sick, suffering or have died. We offer them up to Fr Sean who will be taking them to the Grotto in Lourdes.

Today for the feast day of St Michael, Gabriel and Raphael the archangels we attended Mass on this special feast. We also wore our own clothes as St Michael is our class saint. We remember to stand up for what is right with the faith and strength of Michael.

We have created our class charter with Christ at the centre of all we do and say.

Our beautiful prayer area, as we focus on our first branch, Creation and Covenant.

Our class led a special Mass celebrating the feast of Our Lady of Walsingham, honouring Mary, the mother of Jesus. Through prayer, readings and reflection, the children explored Mary’s faith, humility and loving example. The celebration encouraged us to follow Mary’s example by saying yes to God and showing love and kindness to others.

Our pupil led prayer for the feast of Our Lady of sorrows helps us to deepen our faith by reflecting on Mary’s suffering, love and unwavering trust in God. We are encouraged to show compassion and solidarity with those experiencing sadness or difficulties in our world today.

We discussed together as a class our class charter and what we felt as a class was important for us to include in it. We know that Jesus was sent to us to help teach us how to treat one another and that he is always our example.

During Mission week we reminded ourselves about our school mission and what it means to us. How do we keep Christ at the centre of all we do? We also found out about our class saint, St Michael the Archangel and we look forward to celebrating his feast on the 29th September.

Welcome to Year 5’s Catholic Life pages, we hope you enjoy looking at the wonderful things we do in our class. We started our first week back with our liturgy leads leading us in prayer where we refelected upon the season of creation. We think about peace with creation and took a moment to think about what signs of peace we see and how we can be grateful for God’s Creation hoping for justice and peace around the world today.
