The month of the Holy Rosary

This month we celebrate the month of the rosary. As a class, we gathered for an assembly to learn about the importance of prayer the rosary. We are reminded of our class saints (Saint Jacinta and Saint Francisco) that when Our Lady appeared to them, she asked them to be peacemakers and to pray the rosary.

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of Mercy! our life, our sweetness, and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley, of tears. Turn, then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us; and after this our exile show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus; O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

CAFOD - Family Feast Day

This week, we celebrate CAFOD's Family Feast Day. We listened to Matthew's Gospel where Jesus was asking us to help those in need in whatever we can. As part of CAFOD's Family Feast Day, we are asked to fast something and think of those in need. As a class, we agreed that we will fast on treats and luxuries that we are fortunate to have in our lives.

Generous God, We praise and thank you for all that you have given us.

May the fast that we make remind us that all good things come from you and are intended for all. Fill our hearts with your love and move us to be good neighbours to all our sisters and brothers. Turn us away from indifference and lead us to work together to create a movement of hope. Inspire us all to play our part, to build a better world where each and every person can share in the joy of your gifts.

Amen

Mass for the Feast of Guardian Angels

This week, we gathered with our school and parish community to celebrate the of Guardian Angels. In the Old and New Testaments we learn of  stories and references to angels. Angels are one more powerful example of how much God loves and cares for us.

Our faith teaches us that angels are pure spirits, sent by God to help and guide us.

Angel of God, my guardian dear,

To whom God's love commits me here, Ever this day be at my side,

To light and guard, rule and guide.

Amen.

Blessing of our Classrooms

This week, Deacon Tim blessed our classroom. We ask God for  guidance throughout the year ahead. Thank you Deacon Tim for your time.

Lord bless this classroom dedicated to the education of  young people. Bless all our students, teachers, parents, governors, staff and friends. May this school enable all children to flourish and be happy and may it teach the Catholic faith in all its richness and fullness for the salvation of souls. May this classroom be blessed in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Amen

Catholic Social Teaching - Stewardship

This week on our journey of faith, we gathered as a school community to celebrate the Catholic Social Teaching principle Stewardship. As stewards of God's creation, it is important that we take care of the gifts that he created for us. We then joined in our house groups and made a commitment to how we can care for God's creation this half term.

All powerful God, you are present in the universe and in the smallest of your creatures. You embrace with your tenderness all that exists. Pour out upon us the power of your love, that we may protect life and beauty. Fill us with your peace, that we may live as brothers and sisters, harming no one. Teach us to discover the worth of each thing, to be filled with awe and contemplation, to recognize that we are profoundly united with every creature as we journey towards your infinite light. We thank you for being with us each day. Encourage us, as we pray, in our struggle, for justice, love and peace.
Amen

CAFOD National Assembly

This week we joined the CAFOD National Assembly. During this Jubilee Year, we are reminded of our duty as Pilgrims of Hope to help those in need. We learnt how our good work is having a positive impact on people around God's creation.

O God, eternally blessed, whose love renews the world, You call us to be pilgrims of hope in a journey of faith. Reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope, a yearning for the treasures of heaven. May your grace spread the joy and peace of your love to all the earth. To you, O God, eternally blessed, be glory and praise for ever.

Amen.

Eloquent and Truthful

This half term, our Jesuit Virtues are eloquent and truthful. We have been thinking about ways we can demonstrate our virtues in our school day through our work and our play. In our RE books, we have recorded ways we can do this.

Heavenly Father, Grant me the gift of eloquence, that my words may be clear, persuasive, and inspire understanding. Guard my tongue, that all my communications may be honest, trustworthy, and speak the truth in all things. Help me to find the right words, and the grace to speak them, so that my speech is not only beautiful but also truly reflects the truth. May my words be filled with integrity, and may they be used for your honour and the benefit of others.

Amen.

New Beginnings

Welcome to Y2's Catholic Life Page. We look forward to developing our faith and understanding of Catholic Life throughout the school year.

During the first week of the school year, we have been reminding ourselves of our school mission, learning about our new class Saints; Francisco and Jacinta as well as recapping on the Catholic Social Teaching.

Lord, Our God, In your wisdom and love you surround us with the mysteries of the universe. Send your spirit upon these students and fill them with your wisdom and blessings. Grant that they may devote themselves to their studies and draw ever close to you, the source of all knowledge.

We ask this through Christ our Lord,

Amen
