As part of our Lenten journey Acorns have been thinking about how we can help others. We created helpfulness tokens for our mommy’s and daddy’s. How will you help someone during Lent?
Acorns have been learning about our lady of Lourdes. We enjoyed hearing about Mary appearing to saint Bernadette at the grotto in Lourdes. We have been expressing Mary wishes by writing prayers and asking our lady to pray for our loved ones. We also took part in a procession and prayed the Hail Mary. Some of us chose to create beautiful art work to show illustrate this special story.
Reception have been thinking about the people in our community who love and care for us. We have really enjoyed thinking about all the special people in our lives. This week we had some special visitors. Sally came to talk to us about how she helps to keep us safe. We loved dressing up as Sally and learning about road safety. Mrs Greavy told us about her role as a school Governor and how she helps to make Our Lady of Lourdes such a lovely school. Finally Father Sean came to visit. He told us about his role as our Parish Priest and we though about how he shows love and care for all the members of God's family. Father enjoyed looking at the children's drawings of him! The children had lots of questions for all of our visitors. Who else helps us in our community?
We have been learning about the Mass. What happens at Mass? What does Father Sean do and say? Why is it so special?
Acorns have been thinking about people who help them. They have been learning about the role of our parish priest, Father Sean. How does father Sean help the members of Gods family?
Our prayer area reflects our learning about the Christmas story.
Acorns have been focussing on the crib as part of their learning about Christmas. We have been reflecting upon how blessed we are that God sent us his son on Christmas Day. During our time at church we were keen to share our feelings about this special event. We offered words of love and praise to Jesus and thanked him for always being with us. We also enjoyed talking about the different people who visited Jesus in the manger and why they came to see him.
Acorns have been reflecting upon their first term in Reception class. We have learnt so much already!
Acorns really enjoyed their Advent retreat day with Dan and Emily. They thought about showing gratitude for the people in their lives who guide and shepherd them. They made crowns to celebrate Jesus our king and drew the people who love and guide us.
As part of our learning in Baptism we have made baptismal cards for our friends to celebrate being welcomed into the family of God.
We have really enjoyed learning about Baptism. We learnt about the baptismal candle and reflected upon how we can be guiding lights like Jesus. We responded by choosing to make our own baptismal candles. L chose to make a church.
We love to work in partnership with our parents. Here are the reception parents learning from their children and working together so that we can all become better learners.
Children in Reception have been learning about Baptism. They enjoyed role - playing this special sacrament and learning about how we become part of God’s family.
Children in reception have been learning to care for their common home as part of their work on Laudato Si. They have explored the wonderful gifts that each season brings. We have used different autumn objects to play and explore and we have thought about how we can care for our common home by making sure we leave enough acorns and leaves for hibernating animals. The children also chose to build hedgehog houses to help ensure that all of God’s creatures stay warm during the cold weather.
Deacon Tim came to bless our classroom and all the children and staff. Thankyou Deacon Tim.
Our R.E. board shows our learning about creation. We have enjoyed hearing the creation story and exploring God’s creation in our play. We used the computer to make portraits of our friends. We thought about how our differences are gifts from God.
In Reception we are thinking about how we can live out the Jesuit virtues each day. We have been thinking about how we can be grateful and generous. We are grateful to the people who love and care for us. We show our generosity by sharing with our friends.
