We’ve completed it! What a loving class we are :)
The mission... calling all of Rowan...can we perform 50 random acts of love in our community by next week?! Yes we can!
Sacred Heart of Jesus, we place all our trust in you
This week, as a class, we planned and delivered a prayer service on the solemnity of the Sacred Heart. We sang songs of praise, wrote our own bidding prayers and found proverbs and psalms to read aloud that focus on our trust in the Lord. Take time out of your day to shoot your arrow prayers up to God, he is always listening!
Our trip to the Greek Orthodox Church
We visited the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in Birmingham today. Our multifaith trip revealed lots of similarities and differences between our two faiths! Check out our PSHE book for work on this!
The Regina Coeli - Our Verision
After coming up with many titles and ideas surrounding Mary, we constructed our own class version of the Regina Coeli. We have called it, Saluer Saint Reine. This is a French title for Mary Our Mother, French to tie in with the fact that our school is Our Lady of Lourdes.
Year 6 recognise the importance of helping each other. We all have different talents and gifts that we can use to support one another! Team work makes dream work, especially when revising for big exams!

Our Lady of Lourdes Feast day
It’s our schools feast day! As we look forward to croissants and hot chocolate in the hall, we have opened a beautiful card sent to us from St Peter and St Paul school in Newcastle. Thanks guys!
Year 6 go purple - we are in full swing ready for Lent
Pancake day was on Tuesday, Ash Wednesday was yesterday and today we kicked off the start of Lent in style with a makeover of our prayer table, a ‘Secret Saint’ draw and some serious decisions about what to give up or make a special effort to do during our lead up to Easter. Everyone wrote on their CAFOD fish, the choices they made using the CAFOD A to Z list. We all took a sponsorship form home too in the hope to almsgive this Lent. We hope to see lots of sponsors supporting us through our Lenten challenge all in aid of CAFOD and their sustainable help.
Our whole school Lenten Retreat day
Here are some images from our whole school Lenten retreat day. A special thanks to Dan and Emily for making it reflective, fun and a great way for us to start lent as a whole school community.
Thanks to E.L’s group for leading the class in a focused and prayerful liturgy on the feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes. We remember Our Lady appearing St Bernadette today - a very special day in the diary of our school.

Our second Confirmation Preparation Mass/ Remembrance Sunday
A small group of children planned a Liturgy this afternoon. They used our new ‘prayer bag’ to lead a remebernce prayer service. Well done guys!
Year 6 are very excited to use their new class prayer bag! Thanks Mrs Anthony, we can now plan and lead more small group prayer and reflection as a class. What a great tool!
We are going to take it in turns to take the prayer bag home and lead some family prayer too! If your child brings the prayer bag home, please encourage them to plan and deliver a small family prayer using the items inside it and please take a picture. If you could tweet this that would be great! Reflection and prayer is so important to help us build a relationship with God.
Our year 6 project over the October half-term was to create a project on the life of our chosen confirmation saint. Thank you to everyone who came in on Monday morning with their projects! I haven’t read all of them yet but I am making my way through them! They are making for wonderful reads and I can see how important these saints have become to you. The effort some of you have put into your projects is tremendous!
Confirmation meeting October 2018
This evening, year 6 pupils and parents had a very special, their confirmation meeting. We hand painted some glass candle holders to reflect a gift from the Holy Spirit that we felt we needed most in our lives. What gift to you think would help your become closer to God?
Every Friday, at 12pm, our chaplaincy team lead the Angelus in the KS2 classrooms. This is a time for us to stop what we are doing and join our chaplins in prayer.
Thank you so much parents! We are currently Beech classes biggest rivals as our box is overflowing! Last little push now before our harvest mass next week. All of your donations are going to a great cause - thank you!
