Year 6 2017/2018

Forever friendships

Year 6 may be leaving OLOL in 4 weeks but the friendships they have built will be ever lasting! Maison was having a bad day, so the boys decided to cheer him up by making up a friendship hand shake. Good work boys!

Random acts of kindness

On our school trip this week, this young man performed an impromptu act of kindness by giving his change to a homeless gentleman. Without any fuss or any big gesture, he kindly dropped some change he had in his pocket into the man’s bucket. Kindness is key, everyone is fighting a battle that we may know nothing about. Well done Mason👏🏼

Happy Easter one and all - Jesus has risen!

Year 6 are looking at how we can live out our current virtues: Curious and Active

Our class mass - St Patrick’s day

God our Father,
you sent Saint Patrick to preach your
glory to the people of Ireland.
By the help of his prayers,
may all Christians proclaim your love to all men.
Grant this through our
Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

Year 6 spent some time with year 2 guiding them through the Stations of The Cross at Church. We reflected on the sufferings of Jesus during his final days...

What a wonderful Advent retreat! Thanks Dan and Emily

Confirmation gifts

We received some lovely gifts for our confirmation! Thank you Miss Madden, Mrs Lynch, Mrs Kight and Mrs Webb for our wonderful prayer stones and confirmation cards. Thank you Mrs Anthony for our thoughtful 'Faith Bags' - we loved them! Last but not least, thank you Fr Sean and Mrs David for your kind gift at Sunday's thanks giving mass. We have received such lovely mementos to remember our day by :)

Our Confirmation

What a wonderful afternoon! On Sunday 19th November we made our confirmation in the presence of Deacon Tim, Fr Sean, Bishop Byrne and our sponsors, family and friends. Our teachers were so proud of us, all our hard work preparing had paid off! It is our job now, as full members of the church to use the gifts we have received from the Holy Spirit to help others and ourselves to live a better life.

A visit from Bishop Byrne

Thanks Dan and Emily for teaching us some new songs that we too can use in school!

Our Confirmation retreat

Thanks a million to Dan and Emily for a wonderful day full of reflection and affirmation!
Rosa Maria and Fr Bob

Today we skyped Fr Bob, a missionary working on the border between Mexico and the USA. He told us all about his vocation and passion to help others. A particular story moved us. This was a story of a young girl named Rosa Maria. Rosa Maria is a refugee, who has fled a violent part of Mexico, settling finally in the USA. Her family are living as illegal immigrants, she is the same ages as us! Rosa has a long term health condition and needs constant medical attention, however because she is an illegal immigrant she has been refused this care. She is now being held in a detention centre against her will.

We have decided to write a letter to the American government pleading with them to help Rosa Maria and release her from a detention centre attending to her medical needs. We are hoping to sign a petition and send this off within the next few weeks praying to God it will make a difference.

Parents if you could sign and return your child's permission slip ASAP that would be great!

Thanks Mrs Anthony and Deacon Tim for blessing our classroom today!

Our Second confirmation Preparation Mass

How are confirmation and baptism linked? Today we felt nostalgic reminiscing about our baptism as we made links between that and our confirmation

The first of our Comfirmation preparation masses

St Teresa of the little flower...

We have been busy bees searching out a prayer to help us through the stress of SATS prep! Having trust and faith in God's plan for us is very important. We felt this small prayer of intercession to St Teresa would  be great one to say before exams.

Our confirmation prep is well underway! Thanks Fr Sean, Mrs Anthony and Mrs Lynch for helping us to understand the importance of the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit !
