Solihull Visit November 2018
What a fun- filled day! We caught the bus into Solihull town centre shortly after registration. We then visited the Apple shop in Touchwood to learn about using apps creatively. After a visit to Father Christmas (we were all on the good list!) we popped to Solihull Library where Sandra led a short session about the services they offer and the Dewey system. We particularly enjoyed the story telling part of the session! After such a busy morning, we couldn't resist a bite to eat in McDonald's! Our afternoon learning starting with a trip to John Lewis! Their Christmas advert has inspired our Advent card making challenge so we were really excited! BM, CMc and AA even followed in Sir Elton John's footsteps by tinkling the ivories on the Christmas department floor! We rounded off our brilliant day by visiting St Augustine's Church to light a candle and reflect on the people we are praying for in Heaven. What a day!

Planning and performing role plays based on out core text, Granny. We considered characterisation, scenes, props and body language (in particular, expressing and conveying hyperbole in the text). We performed our role plays to the rest of the class and then used these performances as a starting point for our written play scripts. We couldn't believe that Anthony Horowitz, the author of Granny, replied to our tweet!!
Creating and Performing Gymnastic Routines... For our lesson this week, we created gymnastic sequences to Ed Sheeran’s, Perfect. We had to include a range of balances both on our own and with our partner. We also considered level and travel to ensure our sequences flowed. We enjoyed watching and peer assessing each other’s work.

Y5 have been discussing the warning signs that we experience in our bodies when we feel scared, anxious or uncomfortable. We thought about how we feel in certain situations-our responses were very varied! We then discussed solutions to helps us overcome these feelings. We agreed that boys, girls, men and women feel all emotions and that we must not stereotype or make gender generalisations.
