Lent

Our Lady of Lourdes Feast Day

We led the school mass for our feast day.

We learned about the Sacrament of the Sick.

We acted out the Sacrament of the Sick and said the words of the priest;

Through this holy anointing, may the Lord in his love and mercy help you with the grace of the Holy Spirit.

May the Lord who frees you from sin save you and raise you up.

Amen.

Parables and Miracles

We made new year's pledges to help our planet on our school Laudato Si tree.

We read the story of The Flight into Egypt and how Joseph was warned in a dream.

There is a tradition of praying to St. Joseph while he is asleep because God always sent an angel to help him when he was in trouble, while he was sleeping.

We put our own prayers under 'sleeping St. Joseph'.

Praying to St. Joseph

We visited the crib and described the scene at the birth of Jesus.

We wrote on our door with blessed chalk to honour the tradition of inviting our Lord Jesus Christ to stay with us.

We read and acted out the Christmas story.

Christmas

Sponsored Dance to raise money for CAFOD

Our artwork was inspired by the Christmas Story and Nativity Trail at BMAG.

We looked at the Nativity Trail at Birmingham Art Gallery and recognised parts of the Christmas Story.

Year 2 led an Advent Assembly; explaining the real meaning of Advent and how we should get ready for Jesus's birth at Christmas.

Advent Retreat on the theme of The Lord is my Shepherd and Psalm 23

Advent

We prayed and wore red for persecuted Christians all over the world.

Learning about Saint Francis of Assisi and how we can be peacemakers.

November

After Harvest Mass today, we thought about Father Sean's words.

We thank God for our harvest. We are grateful for the food we have to eat. We think about those less fortunate and share what we have. Our donations are going to St. Chad's Sanctuary.

Learning about Laudato Si from Pope Francis

Extraordinary Month of Mission - October 2019

Our Mission: We help others whenever we can.

EW prepared and led a prayer service about The Rosary during October.

Year 2 Mass The Holy Rosary

Our Class Blessing with Deacon Tim

October is the Month of the Rosary

We chose to pray the Rosary.

We learned about David and about psalms in the Old Testament. We studied Psalm 23. We talked about psalms being special prayers of thanks and praise to God.

We wrote a class psalm:

You are with me always Lord

and you guide me.

You love and care for me.

Thank you for everything.

I want to follow in your ways always.

Old Testament Stories and Prayers

We have enjoyed reading stories about key figures in the history of the People of God.

Our virtues this half term are Grateful and Generous. We explored these through role-play.
