Year 1

Moira and Celine have been sharing their prayers with the rest of the class as we explored our prayer bag

Elm have been learning about the miracles that Jesus performed. We understand that Jesus used His powers to help others, especially the sick.We have written our own prayer cards to send to people who are sick and in need of God’s comfort and help.

Elm have been making their version of the Epiphany chalk blessing for their doors. We have said our prayers over them and they are ready to put up

Elm have been busy this morning, starting our own, personal prayer journals.🙏

Elm have been showing their support for all those who are persecuted for following their faith. We all joined in, wearing something red

Elm celebrated their Mass about The God Who Speaks with the rest of the school today. They all read and sang beautifully - we are very proud of them.

Sebastian shared his work on Creation during our exploration of the Prayer Bag this week.

Elm have been remembering those who have died because of war. We wrote our own prayers on a poppy and shared them in a very reverent prayer service. We have now displayed them for other to share in our prayers.

On China Bridge Day we are grateful for our Grandparents. There are many reasons why members of Year 1 are grateful:

Moira- ‘Thank you for the cake and cup cakes you bring me.’

Ellis- ‘Thank you for always being kind.’

Jonah- ‘Thank you for all the gifts of Lego.’

Dolly- ‘Thank you for all the cuddles.’ ❤️

Sebastian created a wonderful picture of our class saint, St.Francis of Assisi, at home.

Deacon Tim has visited Elm. We all received a blessing and so did our classroom.

Elm have been learning about our local area during our geography lessons. They have thought really hard about the different ways they can care for the world that God has given us.

Our harvest collection. Elm have been so generous, living out their Jesuit virtues by giving to those less fortunate.

The prayer bag has brought much enjoyment to the children in Elm class. They have commented about how they have enjoyed sharing the artefacts, prayers and stories with people at home.

Finding God’s wonderful creations

We have discussed this week how we show care for all of God’s wonderful creations.

Some children shared with the class this morning how they showed care at home and how they were generous with their time or games ❤️

We have spent our first week as an Elm Class family sharing our hopes for our future time in Year 1 as followers of the Lord and Saint Francis of Assisi who is our class Saint.

We have tried all week in our work and play to share the virtues of Grateful and Generous. We are particularly enjoying being generous with the games we play during our breaks with our friends in class and the wider school.
