Happ'Tea' Mothers Day to all the Our Lady of Lourdes Mums💐
Our multi faith link has been Judaism. Today we reenacted a Jewish ceremony using props focusing on their celebration of Hanukkah.
St Patrick's Day and Our Class Mass
March the 17th was filled with St Patrick's day fun at Our Lady of Lourdes. It was a very an eventful day for year 5 as it was their time to shine by hosting a 'class mass'. Our readers read beautifully, our solo singers sang so sweetly and our offertory procession was second to none with a special Irish dancing twist!☘️🎶🇮🇪
We welcomed parents and parishoners to the school hall after for a matinee performance of 'wagon wheel' and a 'practiced to perfection' traditional Irish Ceili dance.
A special treat came in the form of a Bodran, (and Irish drum) in the afternoon. John Doody and Miss Madden played in time with a reel for all of the classes. We learnt lots about how it was made and how the vibrations creat the sound. Moving your hand in the back of the drum added depth to the sound. Some of us had a go at keeping in time to the music while other clapped the beat.
Miss Madden has been so proud of us this week! We have worked really hard in groups to compose our own play scripts using our core text 'Granny'. Our plays were fantastic! Even Mrs McLaughlin heard how amazing they were and came in to view a 'matinee' performance.
Miss Madden was extra pleased with the way we used the text to help us write our speech and stage directions. The text helped us play our parts true to the characters they were portrayed as in the book :)
Happy World Book Day from our class to yours :)
Can you guess who we all came as?
