Sports Premium 2015/16
As part of the Olympic legacy, the Government is providing funding of £150 million per annum for this and next academic year. This funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, with money going directly to primary schools. Head teachers have flexibility on how this money is spent but it must be used to improve the quality of sport and PE for all children.

Physical education develops the children’s knowledge, skills and understanding, so that they can perform with increasing competence and confidence in a range of physical activities. These include dance, games, gymnastics, swimming and water safety, athletics and outdoor adventure activities. Physical education promotes an understanding in children of their bodies in action. It involves thinking, selecting and applying skills and promotes positive attitudes towards a healthy lifestyle. Here at Our Lady of Lourdes we have a long and much celebrated history of playing sport. This funding has allowed us to develop and enhance this provision.
